Questions
What people ask
at the counter.
These are the ones people actually ask on the phone and at the counter. If yours isn’t here, call and ask it.
Do you actually do the engine work here, or send it out?
The engine, yes: it comes apart in our bay and goes back together in our bay, and that is the reason this shop is worth driving to.
Do you do the body work yourselves?
Collision and panel work goes through the shop, and the paint is done by a body shop we work with. You bring the car here, you deal with us, and you get one number to call about the whole job.
Do you work with insurance?
Yes. We work with insurance providers on collision repairs, and we also do body work as a straight out-of-pocket job for people who would rather not open a claim. Both happen here. If you are not sure which makes sense for your situation, call and describe the damage. That conversation is free and it sometimes saves people a deductible.
¿Hablan español?
Yes: Alex speaks Spanish, and this entire site exists in Spanish as a real second version, not a translate button. Being able to describe a problem in the language you think in, and understand the answer, is not a small thing when someone is telling you your car needs work.
What will it cost?
You get the number before the work starts, not after. We do not publish prices on this site because a price without knowing your car and what is actually wrong with it is a guess, and a guess printed on a website is the thing that turns into an argument at the counter. Call, describe it, and we will tell you what it takes to find out.
Do I need an appointment?
Call first. Not because we are turning anyone away, but because knowing what is coming lets us tell you straight whether today or Thursday gets your car back faster. If it is not safe to drive, say so on the phone. That changes the answer.
Where exactly are you? I can’t find the entrance.
We are unit 103 at 3596 Moline Street, in the row of units with the terracotta band painted across the front. The sign over the door reads Alex Auto Repair. If you reach the Peoria Station park-and-ride you have gone slightly too far.
My car is at another shop and I don’t trust the quote.
Bring it, or bring the quote. A second opinion on a big repair is a normal thing to want and nobody should feel awkward asking for one. Bring whatever paperwork you were given: the codes and the line items tell us a lot before we ever look at the car.
How long have you been there?
Fixing cars in Aurora since 2005.

Call the shop and describe what it’s doing. If it needs to come in, we’ll tell you when to bring it.
