Alex’s Auto Repair

Body & collision

Collision and
body work.

Collision, panel and paint, with insurance or out of pocket. Bring the car here and you have one place to start. What you do get here is one place to start, and one number to call about the whole car.

Body work
A pickup body freshly painted deep green, still masked with plastic and paper, standing in a spray booth.
Finished paint
Inside the spray booth: a bonnet in primer on a stand, and someone working at the far wall.
In the booth
A rack of paint tinters in rows against the wall, with the mixing machine beside it.
Mixing
An older Ford Bronco with its bonnet raised and its front trim removed, standing inside the shop.

Two ways this gets paid for

Through insurance

We work with insurance providers. If you have already opened a claim, bring the claim number and the adjuster’s name and we take it from there. If you haven’t opened one yet, call first. It is worth knowing what the repair costs before you decide.

Out of pocket

Plenty of people would rather not open a claim over a small hit, and sometimes that is the right call. It depends on your deductible and what a claim does to your premium. Call and describe the damage; that conversation is free.

Why we tell you this up front

A white coupe raised on the two-post lift, seen from behind, its trunk lid open.

A hit is rarely only sheet metal. A front-end collision bends the radiator support, moves the A/C condenser, throws the alignment out and sometimes reaches the engine. In most cases that means two shops: one for structure and paint, one for the mechanical side, and each one telling you the leftover problem belongs to the other.

We are not going to pretend that is solved by one shop doing everything, because we don’t do everything. Panel and paint go out. What you get from us is the truth about it at the start, and one number to call about the whole car.

What to bring

  • Photos of the damage if you have them: one wide, one close
  • The claim number and the adjuster’s name, if you have opened a claim
  • The accident report, if there was one
  • Any estimate you were given somewhere else
A body job, in his words
